This is another shot of Michael from the same session as Self-Love. It was such a simple graphic image that I used it on the business card I made a bit later. Wings of Desire was a beautiful German film I saw a year or two earlier with Sigi, so the title was in my mind. The photo is a sort of trompe l’oeil – it tricks the eyes. It looks as though he is leaping and might even have a pair of wings sprouting from his back. In fact the picture was taken horizontally with his face on the floor and I rotated it. The «wings» are formed from the wood molding, mirror and white wall behind him. As his real position is a sort of bondage pose, I saw it as a commentary on how our desires can limit us.
