#04 Shroud Of Salvador

I took this image of Jorge, a poet from El Salvador, in the alley next to the cafe where we met and from time to time talked. The war in El Salvador was raging and hotly protested in the Mission District. It was certainly in my mind. I shot 5 images but this one stood out, reminding me of the Shroud of Turin. It immediately became a favorite because it really didn’t look like a photograph. This made me feel like I was really getting somewhere.
